17 cal. decapping die
I need a 17 cal. decapping die that won't size the necks. Lee makes a universal that is not recommended for 17 cal. I have a redding die that sizes. Anyone have a solution.

Scott: I had my gunsmith, take the de-prime rod out of my Lee universal decapping die ( since it only worked on 20 cal up) and had him mill it down to 17 cal. Now I can decap from 17 cal up. Works just great. Bill K
Have him mill the rod, just enough to work on the 17 that you use. I had him fit it to work on 17 rem on down to the hornet... |

I have a old South Bend lathe so I can do that. Need to order the Lee first.

Scott , Lee does make a 17 cal rod. I have one and been using it with the Lee APP press. Works slick for me.

Redding decapping dies have an optional rod for .17s.

You're right Bill, the stem that comes with the die is for a 20 cal. I bought extra stems in 17, 22 and 25 along with 3 new dies. Now I have 4 dies set up and can change calibers with just a twist of the hand.
