Default Thanks for posting..

My Marlin 322, my Sako L46 and I thank you for posting. Fond memories of my introduction to the .222 with coyotes at night in the late 60's..Killed a nice doe just a couple of years ago with the 322, literally collapsed in her tracks. May give that another whirl here in a couple of months. Thanks for posting the article. a morning coffee toast to you and local gun shops, used racks and ads in local sale papers that make one's radar go off.

Interesting read, thought about all the deuces I've had. First was a Remington Varmint special, then a little Sako Rhimakki, then a 788, then a Hart barreled 40X. They all went down the road. Was cruising on Gunbroker last year and found a NIB Cooper Model 51, so I guess I've come full circle back to the 222.

I also enjoyed the article. I still have my Sako A1 varmint rifle. Besides 52/53gr. match bullets, it also loves the old Barnes blue coated VLC's in 40gr. using AA2230 for around 3,550fps. I have 200 of those loaded up for the next time we go for gophers to Horse Fly, B.C. I'll take that rifle & a HMR with 2,000rounds. We've been laying off the gophers for 5 years now, for them to re-populate. Next spring will be a good one.

He never fails in "selling brands" does he?
He writes well, just turns me off with doing that.

Lotta history in this though.

Odd that in that article he said "The Winchester Model 70 was never available in .222". They were available here in Australia as I very nearly bought one myself back in the 70's.

I caught that too. They were available here also, I had one in the late 70's it was an excellent shooter. I don't think that they sold very well because they were a push-feed long action, a very oversized action for the cartridge, I suspect that is what kept them from selling well.
