Default Savage Anschutz 141m Opinions

Ran across a used Savage Anschutz 141M 22WMR. Condition is what I would consider 99%. Very nice rifle with little to no sign of use. It is on consignment and is being sold for $595. My problem is, I have never owned a 22WMR before so I researched available ammo and the variety out right now is very good and seemed to be impressive. My research also showed quite a wide range of selling prices. I have found old posts where these have sold for as much as $1200. So my main question to the experts on this forum is, does the $595 price tag seem reasonable?

The only reason I may walk away from this rifle at this time is it would take money from my next build which will be either a 20 VT or a 20 PPC.

Any opinions on the rifle, the caliber and the asking price would be appreciated.

I've had a couple of the 141m's and liked them a lot. What I didn't like was the stock design. I also still own a Savage/Anschutz 164M and like the 141M's, it shoots the Win. Super X 40gr.hp very well.
As you probably already know they are Anschutz 64 barreled actions. I would think the price you can buy it at is slightly lower than what they go for now......if it is in good shape.

The 22 mag. is by far my favorite caliber, even over the 17 Rem. and that is saying a lot for me.

Depends on your needs but, can't imagine not having a 20VT to play with...

My Ruger M77/22Mag comes out of my safe more than any other Rifle I own. Seems like a good price and you will love the 22 Mag.

Default Qualifier....

If not an "either, or" on the VT, then get the 22 Mag!

Not many cartridges that can justify "waiting to get a 20VT".....But, I would say a 22 mag would easily "qualify" as a priority, if you do not already have one!

I guess I have been living with my head in the sand. I am surprised by the 22 Mag positive responses. I can honestly say in my 55 years I have never even considered a 22 mag until now. My small caliber arsenal ( predators and varmint use ) is as follows: 4- 22LR, 1- 17HMR, 1- 17WSM, 1- 17 FB, 1- 17 Tac, 2- 223, 1- 22-250, 1- 6 BR and 1- 243. On my wish list is a 17 HH, 20 VT or 20 PPC and eventually a 218 Bee. Now I just have to decide to go ahead with the 22 Mag and wait on the 20 or put it at the bottom of my wish list.

Thanks for the reply's and keep the opinions coming.

Default Sav./Annie 22 Mag

Out of all the Anschutz rifles, the Savage versions are becoming very collectible. The sad part is us "baby boomer's" are a dying breed and that's the folks that are going to pay $1200. With that said, yeah that's a good price but only if condition is 90% plus, and it's not refinished, bad bore, or has any add ons like swivels, etc. Collecting has always been complicated, and has become more so, when you have guys with bore scopes and knowledge of what they're buying! Even a $1200 item selling for $500 can be a bad investment if you don't what you're looking for.
