Default 17 and 20 Garin experience?

Looking at putting together 1 possible 2 Garins What are your experiences? Has anyone used other powders that lil-gun? I have RL7, n120 and LT-30 that I normally use in similar sized cartridges.
Thanks,
Drew

If it's a good powder for the 17 PeeWee is will work for the 17 Garin.
The same goes for the 19 Calhoon Badger and the 20 Garin.
I think RL7 might be on the slow side and LilGun on the fast side of optimum powder burn rate.

Hey Drew, been playing with the 22 Spitfire for past couple years. Mine has a 28 degree shoulder so probably not too different from the Garin. Was going to do the Garin but couldn't seem to ever get in touch with them to order the necessary hardware. Anyway, a couple things that might be interesting for your project: 1) the best brass (M1 Carbine) that I have found is either Graf's or Starline. Starline had about half the weight variation of Graf's and is a bit cheaper to buy. I re-anneal lightly before forming, then give it another annealing after forming. 2) Try Shooters World SBR SOCOM and Blackout. In my rifle the Blackout is about a half grain to a grain faster than 1680 and the SOCOM is about a grain faster than Blackout. I am loading mine with Alliant 300MP which easily pushes the 40 gr bullets to 3250 fps with 14.5 grs and low pressure plus good accuracy. I would rate the Spitfire or Garin way ahead of the Hornet based cartridges, much easier to deal with and quite a bit stronger brass. Have fun with it.

I've got 4-17 Badgers that are pretty much the same as the Garin. Mine are necked down 19 Badgers and I had a Forster FL die from Calhoon converted to a bushing die and put a 17 cal expander in. The seater is a Newlon reamed from my reamer.
AA2200 is your friend, I started with 1680 but the case fill with 2200 was better a I think more consistent.
I turn my necks to a loaded .200 after necking down 19 Badger brass for a .204 chamber neck.
I believe the brass come out at .203 after necking down which in my opinion is to thick for this little 17
