Lapua 221FB brass...
Lube it with imperial sizing wax and just run it into the 20 vartarg die with a 231-233 bushing? One pass its made? |

One pass in a "full length" die will get you what you need. Not sure if you'll get a full length size neck using bushings. Only partial? Someone using a bushing die will know for sure.

Pardon my ignorance but is a .20 Vartarg a huge improvement over a .221 Fireball? How much better is it?

Now if you want to stay with 224 caliber, then no. The Fireball is one fine shooting 224 caliber, in it's own right. Bill K |

20 VarTarg brass making ??
With new brass, run the 221 FB into a FL sizing die, check for length, load and fire form. After than just neck size with a bushing die. The 20VT is so simple and easy to reload and shoot. Bill K

I think it's better to use 221 brass than 17 FB brass.
I got 500 of each and made 20 VT from them. No problems, but, sure looks like the 17's neck is mighty thin. I didn't split a one of either so assume no problem. I haven't been able to get out and shoot many. Maybe 30 developing loads over the chronograph is all. Imperial sizing wax IS the one to use though. Have fun
