Default 17hh and 17 gr vmax bullet blow up

not long ago I mentioned I was having issues with these lil buggers blowing up en route to target. that was because there was only one bullet hole. well as it turns out they were not exploding, just going thru the same hole. shot the load again today and with this group you could see the different hole cuts. go figure, I couldn't do it again for love or money.

I knew I had shot the 17 gr vmax in my viper at 4350 fps with no blow ups. if I remember correctly they shot very well.

Where are you purchasing the 17 grain Vmax bullets as a component? ..or are you pulling them from HMR?

That's quite a 'find' Bob. What a terrific rat bullet - like a laser.

I noted some time back, maybe 2005? that the 15gr. Bergers also would withstand a lot of speed and still shoot well.

Buddy was driving them at 4,200fps from his HA, while I was driving them at 4,500fps from my .17AB. Still sub inch for me, but not sub 1/2" like he was doing. Wish Berger still put them out.

That’s awesome Bob! You still got it!! Shh, don’t let those little pills know it but they was only designed for 2650 FPS I happened on to some of the early prototype 17s. Haven’t shot many of those but I’ve had nothing but great results with the 17 vmax.

Be very careful on the cases - RP brass holds just about a full grain more than WW brass. (RP brass also outlasts WW brass in my AH)

Probably the best group i ever shot had similar results, shot one looked at the hole in the target shot another thought i missed??? shot two more could only see one hole moved over a couple inches shot the fifth saw a hole.Walked down to the target and could not beleive it four in one hole, one a couple of inches to the side.
