Default small compared to a 50 BMG

Hey guys I know this is a little off topic but I value your guys knowledge over most, so here goes on a 6.5-300 WSM guys say they get 5-600 rounds but on the 6.5-300 R SAUM their claiming 2500-3000 How could that possibly be ???
Thanks

I don't believe the 6.5-300 R SAUM lasting 2500-3000 rounds.

Of course, much depends on what their 'requirements' are. To hit a target page
at 100yards, or to shoot 1" or sub 1" - or MOA or better at 1,000yards?
Too - barrel quality will change longevity as well.

I would guess the main bore was fine, but he was burning out the throat and had to set back the barrel.

Default 6.5 300 WSM how many shots???

Ya so many variables I thought It had to be crap.
I bought this never fired Krieger barrel 700 Rem. chambered 6.5 300WSM 200 Norma brass for next to nothing.

I'm going to shoot a mile with it. Maybe a prairie dog too.

Thanks for the input. If you have experience with 6.5 300WSM I would love to hear anything you have.
Hope to get 9-1100 shots If I'm nice to it, that might be pretty optimistic please tell me what you guys think. Thanks to all

Sounds good. If the shank is long enough, you could set the barrel back and re-chamber to a shorter magnum round that's easier on the barrel, right off the bat
- or not.

Why be nice to it? The whole point of that setup is to hot rod it. Barrels are consumable, so I would say have fun with it. If you want something slower then there are plenty of factory rounds that will do.

I once saw a 220 swift barrel that had no rifling for about 8 inches. That guy got his use out of it.

I agree on the point of one chamber, which, like you say, is how most judge a barrel. But some fudge and make it sound better for them.

Might be a real good reason you got it so cheap.

When my gunsmith built my 6mm Creedmoor he told me I'd be doing good to get 1,000 rounds out of it before rebarreling, 1,000 rounds is a lot of 1,000 yard shooting unless you're competing and I don't. An occasional Deer thrown in won't hurt much either.
