USPS and sending for repair
Just tried to send a barreled action in to be rebarreled and they say I need FFL verification. I have done this at the same post office a number of times in the last 6 months with no problems.
Is this USPS policy? Scott

Unless something has changed , no FFL was needed to send a action/barrel to a shop for repair or work. And they in turn, can send it back to the customer. FFL should only be needed for a sale of a new firearm, etc.
I would ask them when did this change and to show you, in writing, where they have to have a FFL attachment. |

Did you perhaps get a new Postmaster.....I had to educate one!

I may be the clerk did not know or he was told it was a Firearm--I always disclose it as "Tools" or Instrument then they are not too concerned when it is insured for $$$

Hi!
I use UPS for shipping a firearm for repairs. Never had a problem But I fear the next 4 years may be a Night Mare! Jim |

Same here. I had them bookmark the section in the rules after they told me for the second time that I couldn't ship a rifle.

Ffl for repair
My understanding is that you don’t need an FFL to send a firearm in for repair.
Did the post office ask what you were shipping? Did you offer that it was a barreled action? I follow the law and I never offer to them what I’m shipping. |
