That is the fear.

And this week we had the police ineptitude where, what should have been a secure website with people registering their now prohibited firearms that would be handed in became less secure and anybody could see peoples details.

Then the Police tried to downplay the severity and blame someone else for their ineptitude.

Firearms owners have the same fear about firearms registration if it happens.

Well lets get on with some better memories.

From Lake Louise and Banff we headed toward Calgary, on the way we stopped of at the Rosebud Shooting Range to setup our shooting gear.

It was great to see some friends we hadn't seen for a couple of years, Rick was the driving force that put all this together

And great to see Walt Berger, team capt for the USA team

And Tony Boyer, didn't get a photo of Faye but it was great to see them both

After getting our gear set up and catching up with a few friends we carried on to Calgary, checked in at the motel and visited

Cabelas of course

These are now prohibited firearms in NZ

Some of the prices on some lever actions, some of these are now prohibited in New Zealand as the magazines hold more than 10 rounds.

Don't see too many of these for sale in NZ, usually only at auctions when someone is selling their collection

We also stopped in for a look at BassPro

I thought Cabelas in Edmonton was better than Calgary but BassPro was bigger.

Back to the range the following day to catch up with more friends, and fire a few shots

Lookin good, all the country flags on display

Quite a sea of flags in front of the firing line also

We went out and set flags while the range was closed

Kiwi,
Tell us about your equipment please. Did you ship it over or do you keep it in the US until you need it (rifle/powder/bullets? Do you qualify for the worlds by match results like the US team? How did you shoot?
I went to the worlds in St. Louis 4 years ago and enjoyed visiting with shooters and viewing their rifles and listening to their stories.
Really enjoyed your photos from your trip.

Hi Joe My wife and I use rifles built by Dwight Scott (He has built all our BR rifles to date) both are BAT DS, Scoville stock, Jewell trigger and Helen uses a Leupold 45X I use either a Leupold 45X, March 40X or 48X.
We take our rifles with us and I usually try and borrow a Farley base and use my top. We also take all our reloading gear.
Usually we use Hottenstein bullets, I met Lowell in 2001 when he was part of the USA team, but for the WBC in Canada we used Bill Mitchells bullets, V133 and Fed 205m primers.

We do have a qualifying process and while I qualified for the NZ team I stood down as one competitor wasn't going to go if he wasn't part of the team (last time that will happen) I'll show the results further on.

I think I commented previously that Helen and I were at WBC in St Louis, Helen wasn't shooting at that stage, and I posted a thread about that trip also.
Photobucket ruined all the pics in my previous threads, I might find some time to redo them sometime.

Really great pictures. I was hoping you were going to get around to posting about the BR match in Calgary.

A look toward the stat room and Dan Opals trailer, where a lot of people kept spending money.

One day we had a shower of rain, it bucketed down

Another left handed shooter, Lee Hachigian. He was using a Frankford Arsenal Intellidropper.

Walt Berger and his daughter
