Default 20 k hornet?

I'm really curious. My gunsmith purchased a 20 k hornet reamer. I'm a big fan of the 20 caliber. I have an almost new Cz 527 that I had him 22 k hornet. Would any of you rebarrel to 20 k hornet? Just wondering...thanks Jim

I would. I think you would enjoy the 20 K hornet much better.

I've thought about rebarreling one of my 17HH 527's to a 20 Hornady Hornet and shooting something like that Hornady 24gr NTX bullet, I think anything much heavier would probably kill the velocity but even though I just like 20 cals better than 17's I couldn't get past the thought of, other than building one just because, what would I really gain over just leaving them alone as 17 Hornets.

If my choice was 20 versus 22 K Hornet then, for me since I'm not really that big of a 22 Hornet fan, I would absolutely vote go 20 K Hornet. I'd imagine you could probably shoot the 24gr NTX as fast as a 17HH can shoot the 20gr Vmax and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it shot a little faster even.

My 22 Hornet CZ 527 shoots 40 Vmax at 3250 into half inch groups, so I wouldn’t touch it. The only thing I’ve done to it is put a Calhoon bolt handle on it and had him modify my magazines.

That being said, if I had one I was going to rebarrel, I would go with the 20 K Hornet over the 22 K Hornet in a heart beat.

IIRC, Kindler’s book The Terrific Twentys has a discussion on this option.

Might I ask if the 20 Hornady Hornet is as good as the 20 Ack. Hornet? Have given the 20 HH some thought to avoid fireforming.
