Default Hello from Wyoming

We finally made the move and landed in our new to us home in Dayton, Wyoming on the East foothills of the Big Horn Mountains.

After a lot of soul searching we bought in town for the convenience of plowed roads, no wells or septic systems.

We do have a flock of wild turkeys several which visit daily and a bachelor herd of Mule Deer bucks that wonder through every once in awhile. A couple of them would make any horn hunter proud to hang on their wall. One is a 6x7 with a hanging tine.

The Tongue River runs past about 100 feet to the South of our back yard. In 45 minutes we can be on top of the Big Horns via Highway 14. Grand Elk Country.

Best of all we have huge vistas of horizons, grand blue skies and Charlie Russel; Sunsets. To the East of us we have miles of high desert and rolling prairie with antelope most every where. There a lot of White Tail Deer on the river and creek bottoms. The weather has been hot and dry except for the afternoon thunder storms.

We are still unpacking and modifying this house and what was a single garage into my shop. I have one more small truck load of stuff to bring out from WA.

We have not been shooting yet or looking for Prairie Dogs to shoot.

I have 4 cord of wood in log form in the front side yard to cut but bought a wood splitter and a used Husqvarna chain saw with 30 inch bar to help reduce that pile to firewood.

Ardis and I will bring down a couple of more cords just because we can before winter. It is a great way to learn the country.

I am of course feeling better and getting in better shape, dropped a couple of inches in pant size.

Well Ardis is ready for me to hook up her new Propane range, she did the conversion from Natural Gas her self with only a few *&###, so I had better go, just wanted to let everyone know we are here, finally.

Not a bad place to call home.

Sounds very nice. If I were not so old, I would be leaving the commie state of Kalifornia and headed for someplace along those same lines. Enjoy and happy hunting. Bill K

Was through that country last fall on bike. Can't imagine a nicer area to live in. Nice people and scenery. Congrats

Guess I'm kinda in between. Gettin' too darned old, but enjoying making firewood and country living. We too have bunches of turkeys around off and on, tons and tons of songbirds and squirrels and 4 semi-feral cats. All in all, much less expensive than grandchildren, or so I hear.

Sounds like you've got yourself a beautiful chunk of the earth to call your own, and I hope you're able to enjoy it to the fullest.
Blessings,
Dungheap

Lowell:

I'm happy for you but, must warn you:
That 6 cords of wood is no where near enough for a WHYhoming winter!

Better get more wood and fill that garage with it cut up, don't leave it whole and outside.

More insulation everywhere too.

Hope you folks enjoy it for a long time. Sounds real nice.
Best wishes.

Hi neighbor. We live in Ranchester! We moved here 2 years ago from WA. I can share where to look for wood. This winter is shaping up to be a long one. Four cord isn't enough. Get it split now so it can dry as it will really hold moisture if not split.

I shot pdogs yesterday with the 20vt. Its nice to be able to shoot on the way home from town.
