I played with a 6x45 for a couple of PD seasons and found it to be only marginal in terms of something extra at much more than normal 223 Rem range.
I went to a 6MM/250 and I found a whole new world of fun shooting 55 grain and heavier 6MM bullets. And with the 250 case, barrel life is excellent and the 6MM/250 can handle bullets heavier than the 6x45 if desired. Added: I've found that 3 groove barrels stabilize bullets extremely well and they are far easier to clean than a barrel with 5 or 6 grooves. JMO - BCB

Ive got a cooper 6x45 with 20' 1-10 twist barrel, very happy with it, flat base bullets slightly more accurate that boat tails,
CFE.223 or varget, with the 75-85gr, and H4198 with 60-65gr, its not fussy and everything combo, is inside an inch, except 85gr Speer (shotgun pattern) |
