40 grain Vmax in a 20BR 8twist?

I have a 10 twist 20BR that shoots 50grain bullets but not 55's. I love the performance of this cartridge with 40grain Vmax bullets. Should I go 9 or 8 twist for my next barrel? I desire to shoot 55's but I'm worried about losing the 40 grain Vmax option. Please share experience.
