Rem. 700
Guy over here selling a Rem. 700 in 22-250 cal. It has a 16 inch barrel which he says is a factory barrel.
Does anyone know if Rem. ever offered a 700 with such a short barrel? Thanks,Ken.

Not saying they've never done it, but I've never ever seen a factory made Rem 700 anything, with a 16in barrel. I'm familiar with a new model of their 783 that you can now get with a 16.5in barrel, but not even those are chambered in 22-250.

Rem 700
Same with me, They may have offer a 700 with a 16 inch barrel, but in all these years I have never seen one as such, or advertised. Bill K

He may be just stating it's a factory barrel that's been shortened and recrowned. Like the rest, never heard of one leaving the factory at 16".

Rem 700
The first few years they had factory 20 inch barrels. Even the early Model 7s had 18 1/2 barrel. Never saw an ad or in any other thing the would lead me to believe it is a factory barrel.

I'm with Glenn, the shortest 700 I can remember is 20". Maybe it was a Europe only model. Is it threaded for a suppressor?

Seem to remember the Remington model 40 XBBR (700 without the mag cut out) for a time had very short barrels as a new std length. Maybe ~ late '70's early '80's Memory getting a little foggy though.

16 incher
Short answer, nope. Can you imagine a 22-250 with a 16" barrel, talk about a Fireball.

Those were 20" benchrest barrels.

I bought a brand new, in the box Rem 700 ADL in .270 Win in 1967. It came with a 20" barrel standard. The blast & fireball was tremendous. I traded it in a year later on a brand new Rem 700 BDL in .270 Win with a 22" tube. Remington finally came to their senses I guess.
