17-222 Powder Preference
I am looking for some help on selecting a powder for my new 17-222. I will only be shooting 20gr bullets and was wondering if anyone had a powder that worked well for them? There are obviously lots to choose from, but hoping to get a little guidance rather than just start testing various powders. THANKS!

G'day mate, I recently sold off my barrel and brass to another fella, when I was using it a bit, I was using BM2 and AR2208, thats Benchmark or Vargant in your language. Sorry I cant remember the loads, but they worked pretty well.

VV140 @22.2 with 25r bullet. VV133 worked well also.

Have not fooled with the 17-222, but, in my 17Remington CFE223 is promising. I would study a bit on it.

17/222
IMR 8208XBR is an excellent powder in this cartridge with 25 grain bullets. Varget is worth trying with 20 grain bullets, however, I am partial to 25 grain bullets in this cartridge.
This is one of the easiest and most forgiving of the larger 17 caliber cartridges to load for. Enjoy!

Blc2 or imr 4320 would be good starting place for 20-25 gr bullets.

Ramshot Tac and the 25 gr vmax in mine. It's accurate enough out to 500 yards on PDs.
