Cooper Classic 38 in 221 fb is easy to carry, accurate and not to loud. The only thing that would make it better would be if it were a 20 vt.

Mohawk
I wouldn't hesitate taking a MOHAWK into the field.
Light weight, compact, dependable, any caliber but 6mm is my choice with various loads depending what I'm after...and it'll do it all. I've had at least 3 factory LVSF rifles and no one proved its worth in the accuracy department so might as well carry a baseball bat for same results. I would consider the CZ527 just because it's always accurate and reliable. Last edited by AlbertaAl; 04-10-2020 at 01:38 AM. |

My little TC Carbine, in .17VHA, and 223 Rem.
I don't know off the top of my head the current weight with that bipod, but I know it adds a significant amount to the total when using the 16.25" 17VHA barrel. Thanks goes to Larry here for making this possible. All my shots are short, and I have ruined knees, so, lighter is better. Come to think of it, it is just one of the best reasons I can think of to go walk, I really owe a lot of enjoyable long walks with a rifle to Larry. Last edited by 17tbs; 05-05-2020 at 04:13 AM. |

I have to go along with the Sako crowd, mine is a Vixen Mannlicher in 222 Rem. I also have a Rem 600 in 6x45 and a Howa Mini 6.5G that I bobbed the mag and made it into a nice carry gun.

I vote for a Sako L461 vixen, as my first choice, got one in .222 and 6PPC, and a A1 in .223.
Also got a cooper M51 in 6x45, great we rifle, but a touch heavier, than the sako's Just bought a CZ 527 in 6.5 Grendel, this is kind of growing on me, I prefer the Sako for carrying, but the 6.5 is pretty versatile for hunting. |

My vote goes to either Browning A-bolt in 22 Hornet or 223 or a Model 7 in 17FB or 223, bonus if you can find the M7 Predator. I have both and they are light weight lovely little carry rifles. Very accurate bone stock and with stock ammo.
I'm carrying them this year and letting the heavy barrel Model 10 .243 rest a season or two. |

I have a model 7 in .510 WSM. I don't carry it around too much. An API will excavate a PD that is not presenting much of a target though.
