Default 224 valkaryie

Anyone chamber a Rem 700 in this cartridge?
If so, how does it feed from magazine?

If you started with one in 6.8 it would probably be o.k. Not so sure about the others. Can a 700 be adapted to take AR mags w/o machining?

Or were the M70s in .225 any different than the .308 except for the sheet metal?

Thanks
I’ll look for a a Rem 700 6.8.
I’m still in the “thinking about it” stage on this.

I've built (2) 224 Valkyries. One is a on a Savage Action the other Remington 700. The Savage was easy, just change the bolt head to a 6.8 bolt head.
The Remington required either opening the bolt face or purchasing a new bolt already built for the 224 Valkyrie or 6.8.

I opted for the new bolt, which I bought from PTG.

Both builds went smooth as silk. The Remington does feed from the magazine just fine. The Savage not so much. (Similar to 17 Fireball and 20 Vartarg. Case is too short.) The Savage is relegated to a single shot on a Target Action.

So why two rifles? It's great to have a wife who loves to shoot. So my builds are generally two of everything....

I have a 6.5 twist Valkyrie black rifle that I'm still trying to find the right load for.
Personally if I were to build a close cousin bolt gun it would be a fast twist 22PPC/22AR on a CZ 527 platform or 223 bolt face Rem 700 in 22 Nosler or use the 308 factory bolt face and build a 22 BR.

Better off building a 22 Grendel (6.5 Grendel necked down to 224). Better performance, more room to stuff a bullet without heavy compressing loads, lower pressures, no blown primer pockets after 2-3 shots...

Honeymoon is over on the Valkyrie. The case just isn't able to handle to energy/pressure of trying to push a heavy bullet that far. Grendel case was always better with more case capacity/horse power for 1000 yards, especially when you neck it down to 6mm or .224" bullet.
