I had one once years ago on a Kimber of Oregon 84. If I recall, I could push it to the mid 3400s. A front locking bolt-action (aka "CZ") would do better. In retrospect, I think the problem is that the .17 is so darn good in the Hornet that it can't be improved on.

I want the old forum back... wa wa wa I’m cry’n like a baby remember the good old days.... LOL

Seriously thanks and all due respect its not about improving anything just good ole reading from someone who has been there done that. What grain bullet??? 32 or 33 I guess… what powder you use? Wonder what the new’r light weight bullets would do… I have been running numbers with quick load and I like to play and someday I will have a hand to play just right now I get to dream about em….

besides you can’t compare cause it like apples and oranges, both are good for ya but some like one better than the other… guys have been bickering over the 270 and 06 for years… I say have one of each!!! So its not a matter of if but rather when

I would luv to read more about everything you have done with a 20 AH

I could hit 3400 with the 32gr Vmax in the Mink with 10.6gr of WW296 Adam

The .20 AH would be a great gopher round GW although I've never seen one. I too miss the time when all that was ever said when a guy mentioned a new wildcat was "Do it man, Do it!!" We start using logic or "this ones better, so don't do that one" on these things and ya might as well buy factory rounds . What ever happened to doing one just to have the only one out there?
Build one Gary, Do it! I'd do it if it was me but that's just me .

Default 20 ah

I have that one in mind myself. I had the 20 Mink momentarily. I just sold the ammo and dies. I feel the 20 AH will be easier to fire form and less work involved in constructing the cases.
Keep us informed. What rifle would you build it on? Browning, CZ, Ruger No. 1?
