Using a long action for a short round?
I have a chance to pick up a new Tikka at a good price but it’s a long action and I want to build a 6br anyone know if it will feed ok from the magazine or will I have feed issues?
Also anyone have any experience with the Tikka actions? Thanks Greg

feeding
You will have feed issues --best as a single shot

G,
I didn't know if you were still around these parts. I agree, I'd glue a single shot follower in. That said, you might be able to block the magazine, and if necessary also install a bolt stop. How did your Vartarg turn out? Drop me a line and let me know what's been going on. Mike |

Tikkas having single stack rather than staggered magazines tend to be forgiving, but there's only one way to find out. Have it built, worse case scenario is you'll have a nice single shot rifle!

I had a 6BR barrel screwed into a long Savage action awhile back, it didn't feed worth beans, but I had ALL kinds of room in the action to stick my fingers. A ScoreHi single shot follower made it easier to use.
I can't, for the life of me, think of any action that feeds the 6BR case very well. It just doesn't want to work that way.. |

Here's a film presented to me by Mr. Wenzle of a Rem 700 feeding a 20BR;
