Colorado Bull
We where finally able to get down to our southern Colorado ranch this last weekend, my son had moved to Colorado at the beginning of the year so he was able to hunt down there this season. I got to go along as guide (baby setter) on the second day of the hunt I ran this bull out of the Oak brush to him. Earlier in the day he had decided to use his great grand fathers 250 Savage, it looks like it did a great job.

I have been running around on that place since I was a kid. It was a great place to learn how to hunt and track and all the sorts of stuff a kid should know. My grand parents moved to that place in 1945 but up until about 15 years ago there where never any elk on it. I'm pretty sure what my grand father would have said if he would have seen an animal like that come off his place and I don't think I can type it here, but he sure would have been proud.

Congrats on a fine looking bull. I guess he didn't know that a 250Savage is too small for elk.
When you shot it how did you get it to fall in the back of the pickup like that? |

I have been hearing all season long that you couldn't kill an elk with a 250 Savage. I wonder what they used before all the magnum's? Heck my mom shot her Moose with that rifle, same thing happened one shot and down! He actually fell down just in back of the truck and we had to drag him in. I'm going to work on them next year and see if I can get one to get in the back of the truck before we shoot him.
Here is a little better picture and the guy that should have shot him. Bob |

Although there is a strong resemblence I think the elk is a little better lookin'.
When I saw your title "Colorado Bull" I thought it was more election coverage. |

Hotshot you should think about going down there with us next year, my son shot the little one, the bigger one got past him. He had to make a pretty long shot on this one probably 20 or 25 feet.
