Default Extremely light 17cal.

Today I saw some non-lead 5gr Sabot bullets. The solid bullets look to be about 10-12 cal with plastic sabot. Made for an airgun. In Washington where I am now I only have a .20, so I will have to wait till next year to try them in my 17-204 in Arizona, but they should make close to light speed if loaded properly. Larry

And a plastic sabot driven by 30kpsi+ pressures will likely size down in the throat just fine!

I will pick up a can of them and see if I can load one up in some 17 case I have. A case full of 1680 should launch them pretty well. Larry

I had some 30 06 Eccelerators that had 55gr .22 rounds in Sabots. Factory stuff. Wish I had put some over a Chrony to see what speeds I was getting. They didn't shoot too bad. I used them for Groundhogs.

I have tested those "pellets" back in the day (PCP air rifle) and i have shot some 30/22 caliber sabots in 30-06. For both types i can say that @2½-3MOA is as good as i got them.

And i seriously doubt that those pellet are designed to go 300000rpm or faster. The pellet is designed for the sabot to stay on during flight and for centerfire sabots they are designed to shed right after muzzle exit.

The novelty will wear off rather quickly i suspect!

I checked my old pics and the Prometheus pellet in .22 was @3" group at 35yds.
Started of fair but i suspect plastic did a number on the barrel and the last 4 of 8 really scattered.

At 300,000 rpm I doubt the plastic will stay on. Larry
