Help - Sako Parts Needed to Save A Gun
I need your help - heart sick over this.
Yesterday, I threw out the trash from the workshop, include a pile of rags that must have contained the Magazine Spring and Follower for my Sako L461 (222 Rem Magnum) that I had just cleaned. A long sleepless night at the hospital resulted in a careless mistake. Any source for these two parts...friends, family, gunsmiths, a long forgotten cigar box squirreled away on a shelf, one-eyed witch, whatever/where ever. Please help me save this rifle from becoming a one shot wonder!!! Thanks in advance |

Paying top dollar to solve my carelessness
I would drop serious cash to get my hands on L461 222 Rem Mag follower. I have no problem putting a price on a day sifting trash at the municipal dump....lone enough a super fund site.

I have one, but, I'll be damned if it's coming out of my
whole working rifle for no matter how much cash you can throw at it. same as in .223's. Contact the referred places and you'll find one.

.222 Mag magazines often run north of $200. Parts are nuts for L46's. I have a broken safety in an L46 bolt, and I am basically screwed. The gun is in very good shape, but parts are unobtainable.

Magazine Measurements for Sako
I could use your help determining if there is a size difference (length) in the Follower as well as the Internal Magazine in Sako L46 / L461 rifles.
Specifically, I am interested in the measurements for rifles with internal magazine (blind magazine with hinger floor plate) chambered in: (1) .222 Rem (2) .223 Rem (3) .222 Rem Magnum I know this is a big ask, but I could use your help collecting this information. I can't give you measurements as I am not near my rifles, but I can tell you that the magazine boxes on the L461 222 and 222 mag are the same size. There are stamped in ridges or furrows in the sides to "guide" the cartridge, the 222mag ridges are farther forward on their magazine box to "guide the longer cartridge. The followers are the same or so close that they will work for both.
I used a 222 magazine box on my 222mag rifle by flattening the ridges, it worked out well. Also, I used the 222 follower as is and have no problems feeding the 222mag cartridges. Good luck..... |
