Nice! Lots of great ideas, keep 'em coming folks!

But I do have 4227, 4350, and 4831 all three.

Have most everything together now. 17cal Satern funnel, went with Lee's collet die and a Hornady New Dimensions seater (and might pull in that "microjust" arm at some point - seems like a much cheaper way to get to micro adjustment than going with a competition seater). Got 200 Woodchuck Den 25gr bullets (.050's). Have plenty of primers, got a .172 comparator insert now, and 100 new Nosler custom brass cases on the way!

Seating depth? What is everyone doing for seating depth with their 25gr'ers??

Seems like there are plenty of good powder options. I haven't found IMR-4320 yet, which is what I really wanted to try for starters. But I'm sure we can make something I have "in-stock" work. Hope to roll some first test loads over the Christmas break so keep that good input coming - thanks!

Well, decided to just start out trying some Varget powder at published COL of 2.150" for starters today. Did 3 of 22.8, 4 of 23.0, 3 of 23.2, 4 of 23.5, and 3 of 23.7. Considering 24.5 is max for Varget, well... unless seating long that would almost have to be a compressed load to get you up over 4,100fps with a 25hp. 23.7 was getting plenty full as it was. Anyway, hopefully I am on the right track.

23.5 of Varget seated to 2.150 will work just fine with a 25 gr bullet.

My best 17 Rem load is 22.8 gr. VV135 with Hornady 25 gr hp moly. This is all I've used for years after experimenting with all the other top powders for this cal. This gave me the best accuracy by far. Shooting a Cooper 21 rebarreled with 26" Shilen 1/9. I've been tempted to try Todds 30 gr. bullets but haven't , since I still have a good supply of the hornady's left and they do so well. I've hit a LOT of Pd's out past 500 yd with this load.

I think they may have had 135 at a store I was in just the other week in PA, but didn't get it. And I haven't been able to find 4320 anywhere. Oh well, we'll see how these Varget loads do once we get onto some better weather.

I too have heard a LOT of great things about the 30's. Was thinking we might want to try driving some of these hard and fast later this summer as a ground-hog load.

What is the velocity of your vv135 load with the Hornady 25 ?

Where at in Pa Branden, I'm in SW Pa. My buddy had really good results this past year with a 20 BR and 55gr Bergers. I was thinking the 30 gr bullets in 17 Rem. would give me a little more range .
