Default New rifle for my boy.

We found out this past week, that my wife is pregnant with a baby boy. So I thought it would be fitting to go ahead and get him, his first rifle. Well here it is:

Sako Vixen Deluxe in 222 Rem.

Default hide it

I'm going to have to hide this thread from my son's. They got Remington 700 223 Varmints, 200pcs of milsurp 223 WCC brass ea and directed to the swaging equipment to do the primer pockets. Getting your son involved in the shooting sports will be one of the most pleasurable things you'll ever do. I have a couple L461 Deluxes that they lust after. What is that I'm looking at on the bottom of the grip cap on your rifle?

My oldest at 12yrs old.

I know I can't wait to get him shooting, but we have some years still to go.
Chuck, that is a design of a foxes face, Vixen. They did that on the deluxes after 1968, they also did a diamond shape a few years. Also the oak leaf on the bottom metal, some have a fox tail design.

I think what he is asking about is at the front of the grip. it looks like a big chunk of finish is missing, probably a camera flash.

Oh, that's the reflection of the blinds on the windows in the room. We are packing up rooms because we are getting ready to move soon. So, there are no curtains on the Windows. So, just the light reflection from the Windows. There is no marks on this rifle, it is mint

Same reflection on the bolt knob and trigger guard. The wife took the pics, I'm not there.

Yeah, I used that ruse too when my son was born. I bought "him" a Dakota 22.

Congratulations. Better sign him up for membership at the Palmetto GC. By the time he's old enough there might not be too many ahead of him.
