Default opening weekend good fortune

This was opening weekend for firearms. Randi and I hunt about a quarter mile apart, she hunts the river bottom, I hunt a food plot. In my stand all I have seen during bow season was does, and in hers, Randi has seen several nice bucks, including the one she took last sunday. So, in my infinite wisdom, I traded stands with her Saturday... All I saw were does, she filmed 3 nice bucks with her video recorder, strolling under my stand
So, Sunday we swap back, this fellow strolls down the shooting lane for me.
We canned 47 pints from Randi's buck, this guy is gonna be ground up.

Yes, that is my old first gen Contender. Had to give up on iron sights a few years ago, use a red dot now. Indiana started handgun season in 1987, have never took a deer with anything but a contender.

Congrats on a fine buck and with a handgun no less !!! I love handgun hunting.
I had a Ruger Redhawk .44 Magnum put together a number of years back with a 6 1/2 inch Pac-Nor barrel (action all trued, trigger worked over etc etc). The smith who use to work with Hamilton Bowen is a master, he also put a Bowen flat backed rear sight on it and he milled a thick front post for old fart eyeballs. That worked for a number of years but as those years add up that front post seems to be growing fuzz on it, dangdest thing . At any rate I think my days of conventional hand gun sights are numbered . So as not to hijack the thread, maybe we can use the pm feature and talk about non-conventional handgun sights . Also like to hear about the canning process?
Again, that's a dandy buck congrats! Looks like great whitetail bucks is the order of the day where you guys are hunting.

Default Posting some pics for kenbro.

I'm not sure who this lovely "huntress" is but kenbro asked me to post a couple pics. I was thinking he wanted me to post it in the thread about Randi's fist buck but I can't find that one so here's where they are going due to the Contender connection.
He said some a you guys will recognize her and I won't be shot on sight for posting pics of some successful hunter who had no idea who I am, "IT'S KENBRO'S FAULT!!" . Great pics!

Here's the first.

Here's the second.

There ya go Ken.

Yep,
What a lady...and she wasn't safely in a tree when she shot Mr. Piggy between the eyes with her TC pistol in 7mm GNR CAL.
Thanks montdoug.
Ken.

Default Opening weekend good fortune

I do not know the lady, but believe I George, maybe, posted a photo of that same lady with the pig, last week on one of the sites.. As said, maybe someone will know her or where, for sure. Regardless it is good to see the ladies out hunting, and especially with the handguns. Bill K
