my FIRST CZ452 17hmr
I purchased a brand new CZ452 Varmint 17HMR
Installed the YO DAVE trigger kit which is now @ 1-1/2 lb pull weight. Replaced the STRIKER spring and mounted a EGW 20moa rail. Transferred from my 17REM the VORTEX FFP 2-1/2-10 PST with NEAR one piece aluminum rings. The side parallax starts at 35 yards. I did a barrel break-in at my acreage My first trip to the range shooting CCI Gamepoint 20gr. went really well @ 50 yards with alot bullets going into the same holes but - not a consistent 5 shot group, mostly my fault. The rifle will shoot better then I can and I wish I had more magnification. |

I noticed yesterday that Whitaker's has some more 452 americans in stock. Nice rifle!! I have 6-20 power vortex on mine and figure that is about right for my needs. Let us know how she does at 100 yards. Burt

Pretty tiger stripes. I've had one in .17M2 with similar mods for along time and it has never disappointed me on targets or game. Groundhogs require head shots with the M2 and it is quite capable to 100yards and then some. Longest to date is 120 yards on a calm evening. Enjoy it!

Beautiful rifle and my 453 varminter preferred the 20 gr game points also. They knock the snot out of the groundhogs.

Hope ya put it to good use and pop a bunch a gophers and such. I got the same rifle only without the fancy furniture and with an Eric Brooks kit at near exactly the same pull It was purchased the first year they came out and it's my first CZ, Nancy has since scomped on to it however so now it's her first CZ too. At the end of the first summer with it (and it has a 6X20 Grand Slam Weaver on top), on a great condition morning at the range I shot 9 consecutive 5 shot groups at 100 yards that agg'd .72 inch. I was flabbergasted ! A $369.00 rifle that agg'd under 3/4 inch. Smallest group was in the .4's and the largest was a 1.02. Not teensey enough groups to impress the absolutely amazing shooters at "Rim-fire Central" but it sure impressed the heck outta me. Ya got ya a great one there Al, congrats!

Cz17hmr
Thanks to everyone for making me feel good about my purchase
I took 174 coyotes this past winter so thought I'd buy myself this gift with the some of the fur sale. The 17HMR provides me with trigger time without the reloading hassle So, I went out shooting but that scope didn't give me the best outcome... not enough magnification. I didn't want to, but will be robbing my sako 22 rimfire of its scope. It's an Elite 4200 4-16 with frontal parallax adjustment. I've got a huge stash (5 cases / 5000 rounds) of 17HMR ammunition, all the same, CCI 20gr Gamepoint. Regardless of its performance with this rifle I'll stick with it as I don't want to invest any more money into ammunition. But, would like to try REMINGTON PREMIERE 17gr. at some point. Once I get this rifle sighted-in and calibrated for different distances I have a pigeon shoot planned. Over 300 pigeons on local ranch that need to be thinned down. Everyone, please keep your 17HMR experiences and ideas coming ! Last edited by AlbertaAl; 03-16-2018 at 06:38 PM. |
