Parkerized the barrel today and now just need to get a scope on it and make up some ammo. Larry

Just finished test firing it with 11gr of Winchester 760 and a 13gr bullet, CCI 450 primer. Sooted up the case some, and the primer was still rounded so I will probably need a little faster powder, the case will hold another 1.5gr of the 760 so I may have to go with 748 or faster, will definitely have to stick with ball powder. Larry, do you know right offhand the maximum length of a loaded round that will clear the ejection port?

Also, I can't quite understand your powder choices, unless the .14 caliber will work with them. I've been playing with the .22TCM in a Savage, and all the powders that yield me even remotely good accuracy and velocity are much faster than those you're choosing. Am I doing something wrong here, or do I just not understand .14 caliber lore?

In a single shot the round could probably be at least 1.5 inches long, guess I could check. The powder has to be fairly slow because the area it has to push on is very small compared to a .22, so it is a lot like loading for a 17 Remington. Seems that 11gr of 8208 is about right, nearly a full case and 12gr gives a very hard bolt lift and sticky extraction. I am just playing with how much to inside neck ream before I size back up for the bullet fit now. Now I have a chamber with a .181 neck and the loaded brass has a .176 neck, after firing the neck is only .177, so I think I will ream a little less and expand more to get up to a loaded neck diameter of about .178 to .179. I am thinking range day tomorrow. I ordered a fixed 10X scope, but it is not here yet so I put on a 3-9X40 on Millett rings. Larry

Larry,
Your PM Box is full

If you can give me the water capacity I can run some numbers for you in the .14TCM. I'm rather curious to see how it stacks up to my .14 Reed, I suspect it will be very close. In the little cases an extra 1/2CC does not seem to make much difference.
