!7 mach iv
Nothing to exotic. I'm planning on swapping an XP-100 from 221 Fireball to 17 MACH IV. I was able to pick up the dies and stock off of the forums CLASSIFIED section. Now to actually begin.

So just about the time I thought this was going to move forward my deal on a donor XP-100 fell through. Took a while to come up with a second XP but finally found one to sacrifice. Got the action stripped recently and the old barrel screwed off and the 17 barrel screwed on. Finally feel like it's moving forward. Still need to knock out some old glass bedding in the laminated stock and open the barrel channel.

That looks like a fun little project.
Is the barrel swap relatively easy? I ask because a friend has a xp 100 in 221 fireball that has entertained a caliber swap but thought it would not be easy

It's pretty straight forward. The model 700 action wrench needs another hole drilled for the XP-100 action screw a bit closer to the recoil spacer/lug. But other than that it's similar to a model 700.

So opened the barrel channel ground out the old bedding and then re-bedded. Got the action and stock apart and began cleaning them still need to do better on the stock and the bolt release is sticking on the action so that needs looking at. Every thing seems to fit together any ways at least. The stock is set up for a right handed shooter and I'm a lefty. The stock has a minor thumb rest so grinding and sanding the stock to fit me will be next.

That just looks awesome. Waiting to see how it shoots, game and paper groups/carnage. Bill K

Nice!
You will love the 17Mach1V in an XP.
Glad to see it moving along Matt

So with the right handed grip I could barely reach the trigger. More scraping and sanding to shorten the reach. I also managed to get some epoxy into the bolt release slot when bedding so had to dig that out but the bolt release is now functioning properly.

Shortened and thinned the grip reach, stripped the stock and rattle can finish.
