Default 17HH clean up.

I did this little excercise to clear up the loading bench and to find something concrete to move forward with. As you can tell, it's early on in my load developement but the info might be of use to someone. They were all fired from my CZ 17 Hornet with a Hardy gen V moderator. At this stage there was no chrono or uniform case size or col or different primers. The single shot on the plain target was just a barrel warmer.

The only low load is the Trail Boss which is encouraging. Over here the 17 grain pill from Henry Krank is about a quarter of the price of the nearest alternative. This load was quiet and grouped fairly well. More work to do but can someone tell me why the size of the hole is smaller than the rest? For those that haven't worked it out yet the TB group is at the bottom of the page.
The sharp eyed may have seen the group that's off the target at tha top right hand corner. This was fired just because we had extra but I've forgotten which one it was. I think it was the 9.2 LilGun.
My biggest beef with TB is that it bounces. I weigh each load and Ive had to use a drop tube to stop the donuts jumping out of the pan. I've even seen em jump out from the height of the trickler.

Going forward I intend to make a "wallet" (maybe stitch up a resealable plastic bag) numbered 1 to 5. Then with a copy of the target next to me I'll be able to place each case in it's pouch and mark where it hit on the copy. Hopefully to cut out the flyers and find out what I need to work on.

Hey, is there a chance that you could show us all a photo of those 17gr Soft points from Henry Krank?

Hi Hutch.

They label them as soft points but they're not. They're Vmax (I'm told) with a ballistic tip and a boat tail.

Default Thanks

Super nice price for them, I wish that they could hop the pond. For that price I would buy them by the 1 pound bag.

Frustratingly there's no data out there for the 17gr bullet, either from the powder manufacturers or even the reloading manuals. If the 17 cal is even mentioned it usually starts with the 17 Rem.
