Default Nosler/Norma 221 FB Brass for Vartarg

I am interested in knowing if the Norma or Nosler brass needs to be neck turned for use in a standard .232 neck 20VT chamber. I am using Lapua now which of course needs to be turned but I have heard the Nosler and Norma have thinner necks that might not need turning.

I appreciate hearing about your experiences.

Also is Nosler Fireball brass made by Norma? I have read Norma makes Nosler brass but not all of it. I would like to know if they are the same or not.

Regards

Phil Schmidt

Often when it is fresh and new, turning is not required. However after a few reloads and sizing, it may. Only way to know is to measure and then do what is necessary.

It seems like Norma does or did make Nosler's brass. I have not heard otherwise and would say, unless someone knows for certain, that they do make the brass for Nosler. Bill K

Default Nosler/Norma 221FB neck thickness -

Has anyone measured each of the big three 221 FB necks? Lapua is over .013

My 20VT has a .232 neck and I turn all my brass to .012, this gives me a loaded round of
.228. That gives me consistency and .004 neck clearance. However, I form all my vartarg brass from 223 brass.
