17 Fireball and H322
Just curious if anybody uses H322 in the 17 Fireball. I bought some to use in the 17 Remington and ended up using Varget. I would love to use it up on some Prairie Dog ammo. BTW, i'm using the 25g VMAX.

What kind of velocity are you getting with 40 and 50 grain bullets using this powder. It is one I have never tried in the 221 so am quite interested as it is easy to come by. Thanks.

Sorry guys, apparently I can't read. The post clearly said 17 FB and I read 221 FB. You are right BW, out of the 17 I use 25 and 30 grain pills. Still haven't used 322 powder in it either, I like Benchmark and 8028 in the 17FB so will be interested to hear how this powder works out for velocity with the 25 and 30 grain bullets.
What I was going to respond till I went back and re-read the original post. Much lighter than 40 would leave the Varmint grenade, which shoots well out of my 221 FB but the batch to batch frangibility is so variable I don't use them any more, and it sure isn't designed for heavier bullets. I use the 40 Vmax and the 50 grain SPSX over Lil'Gun as my two common bullets for the 221. What are you shooting out of yours? Last edited by Dean2; 04-17-2014 at 12:07 PM. |

I use it with 25 gr Bergers in mine. About 3650 fps, not fast but accuracy as good as it gets with a factory rifle (1/2" if the jerk behind the trigger works). Watch pressures near max. I think I was using around 17-18 gr???

17.2 grains of H322 jn my Montana Varminter with a 25 grain Berger yields 3695FPS with a SD of 12.
