NRA article
There is an article in the new Rifleman mag. on the new .26 Nosler. In the article page 80, he makes a statement about the accuracy, "5 shot group a TAD over an inch, for hunters that are used to 3 shot groups that converts to 3/4" probably well under"? Is there a formula that converts 5 shot groups to 3 shot groups? And a Tad and probably well under? I guess I just don't understand technical talk?

Sounds like some attempt to not tick off the people who paid him to write the article after the product produced bad results in testing. Larry

Should have been shooting 3 shot groups with a cartridge that overbore anyway.

No help on the conversion. But i have a good friend who had chambered a few of these and the throat erosion is amazing on this round. About 50rds and it had serious erosion and fire cracking. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a 400rd and done barrel/ cartridge combo.

If i remember my film trivia from "Airplane II" correctly then a tad is slightly under 500,000 miles.
That aside, if a gun journalist and i mean that in a very loose way (most of them are simply whores) writes something negative, ads will drop and they will not get free weapons to test. I was into PCP airguns big time some years ago and read many english airgun mags. Nothing they ever tested was bad, they always found something positive to say or at the very least was neutral. |

Harold,
How would the target know that it was a ten shot group, and not two five shot groups which should be smaller than a ten shot group? Ken.

NRA article
To me five shot groups are not important with rifles in this caliber or larger, as they are for hunting and not varmint/target shooting.
To me the important thing, after I do find a load it likes, is where that first and second shot go. On most big game, with larger caliber weapons, this is about all you will get, or should get before your game is down for the count. Bill K |
