Default New powders

Anyone know what these new IMR powders are about? Saw two different cans at the local store but no info. Label indicated a new technology.

Awesome!!! What I have is what I know works for me and, I have plenty of it. I do, however, enjoy following the experiments that others are conducting.

Believe it is a attempt by IMR to cover a majority of cartridges, with these basic three powders. But I can not see where they will drop down and include our 17 and 20 calibers, like others do. Guess will have to see what others know or data comes out. Bill K

The new IMR4166 is similar to IMR4064 so you can go from there.

IMR4451 is closer to IMR4350

I am wanting to try some new powder in my 20BR with light (30 to 40gr) bullets. Which of the three would be a good one to try? Larry Trotter

I'm not buying in to this "new" powder. I think a lot of it is just a marketing gimmick. Hell, I know guys who are using powder that was made during Vietnam in their benchrest rifles!

I still have some 4831, bought in bulk way back when, for $ .50 a lb. Bill K

There is no hoarding in the gun hobby there are only those that have had enough brains to think ahead. Then you don't have to pay gouger pricing!

Bill I'm not quiet that lucky but I did fall into 20 + pounds of surplus 4831 at $8 and change per pound just a month or so back.

Then yesterday I stumbled onto some Alliant 10X for 19.95 a pound. Damn stuff followed me home.
