Cooper barrel history
I have heard somewhere that Cooper started out using Lilja barrels, then Shilen, and now Wilson. Is this correct? Thanks.

Cooper Barrels
I have 2 Model 38's in 17CCM that were built with McMillian barrels.....I cannot prove that, but that's what the factory rep told us when he called on our shop and took our order for them.....these have the magazine catch/release in the aft position, I think the SN's are 75 and 80.......the magazines never did work right and later the catch/release mechanism was moved to the front, to make them work well.....steve

I found out today that at the present time, Cooper is using both Wilson and McGowan barrels.

17 Cal. Cooper
It must be one of those two. Those are the only brands mentioned by

I once was told that my older Cooper 17 CCM barrels are Shilen. I really like mine... Not sure how it happened but according to my serial number the riffle was shipped with a mag and now looks like this as a singleshot... works great too...
