Default Oh stupidity came to me in a big way this evening

Well just in case you thought you had heard it all, I had stuck a round from my sako vixen 223 in the seemingly tighter chamber of my CZ Kevlar and tried to close the bolt, first error.
Get the gun home and think to myself how am I going to get that round out, I know I'll stick a bronze brush on the end of a rod and slide it down the bore,2nd error, the brush wouldn't come back out. Well I'll just tap it a few times with a light mallet, 3rd error, busted the end of the rod holding the brush.
Now for some real genius, I'll just drop in a whole bunch of 20 cal bullets, then tap on them with my long tapered punch, well needless to say I must have tapped too hard as the punch got stuck.. So now I'm thinking about which rifle I will put that fine VXII 6-18 B&C on seeing as I don't have a 223 anymore..
Wish I could say this felt good, maybe the single malt will help this go away..........SX

Man that bites. Some days just go from bad to worse. If you can't get the drift out, take it to a machine shop with hydraulic bearing puller gear. They will suck the drift out no problem. May need to get an inch or so trimmed off the barrel and re-crowned but that isn't a big deal.

As to removing the case, if a 22 call brass rod won't pop it out with a shot hammer, there are good stuck case removers that work well on really stuck cases. You can order them
http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=9...CK-CASE-PULLER

from Brownell's.

Let us know how you make out.

I know this is going to sound bad, but thanks for making me laugh!
I thought I was the only one that quite thinking straight when something got stuck, now I know there is at least one person that really quits thinking straight.
Good luck with that mess. Seriously, good luck, I hope the barrel is not lost.

Did you fire it SX or is there a live round in it?

Don't feel bad, when I first started reloading I stuck a .223 in my press and full length sized it to 17/223 but didn't know you needed some kinda lube if you wanted to get it out of the die lol. This was when I went for a search and found Saubier.

Good luck. Hope you save the barrel.

I feel your pain Brother! While I haven't done that, yet, I have been in many similar situations. I have a big list of "Things I'll never do again"!

Man, that's gotta be painful!

Were I in your moccasins, I'd grab the punch in a vise and very gently tap the end of the barrel with a piece of hardwood (with someone else holding onto the rifle, maybe pulling and twisting a bit, gently, to help it along. That shouldn't be so hard to get out. Then, I'd look at getting at the extractor groove on the stuck round to pull, pry or tap it out by any means you can devise Once that is out, you should be able to tap out the remains of the brush and stack of deformed bullets with a piece of steel rod sized as close to bore diameter as you can get. And, if you're into praying, a little of that may not be a bad idea as well.

I've gotten myself into a few "stickies" in my time too, but this is a doozie!

Hope you can salvage your barrel!

SuperX

Is that a live round that is stuck in the chamber?
If it is take the gun to a gunsmith.

If it isn't take the rifle to a gunsmith, maybe the barrel can be salvaged.

Guys seem to hit a slight panic mode when they gey a round stuck in a chamber .

I have seen branches ,coat hangers , welding rods and all sorts of things jammed into barrels by fellas .

One thing to remember if you are going to take it to someone make sure you advise ahead of time you have a live round ,I am assume it it a live round ,stuck in the chamber .

Sounds like you might have nipped in to the single malt before you started the removal process... ;^)
