Default Browning Low Wall 22Hornet ?

I have a Browning 1885 (1995 mfg) 22Hornet. and looking for the bore size. I need to order a pilot for my reamer. Called Browning, and they were no help. I did my best to slug the bore and came up with .217" I am thinking a .2166" pilot is correct per JGS? Thoughts?
Thanks

Hi Kenacp,

I would stick with the recommended size. And I would think you’re spot on. I have not done this myself on anything other than a.22 Lr to .22 Mag. because the grooves on this .22 LR Steven’s Favorite 30G were .2235 not the .220 it should have been. If I remembered correctly the pilot was .005 or .004 smaller the the lands or bore.

Just shoot .224 bullets through it. The odd bore size Hornets were much much older. You got yourself a fantastic rifle!

The pilot, .2166" arrived, and fit perfect in the Browning. For those who want to know.

Default Glad your pilot fits well

I assume you are going to K Hornet with the new reamer. Greg Tannel rechambered my 77/22 and it was the best $100- I ever spent with him.

My Browning 1885 Low Wall 22 K-Hornet not only shoots like a bolt gun, it's one of my fav's for taking for a morning chuck walk for that reason. Mine thrives on the old Nosler 45gr Hornet over 1680 and 6-1/2's.

Glad you are on the path to make yours "right".

Default Great bullet

Rick that old Nosler 45 grain while maybe not the best b.c. was one of the most accurate in my .222 Rem. 700VS.It sure accounted for a lot of chucks way back when.Wish you could still buy them.

Yes, It's now a "K"Hornet. My reamer is a little shorter than my Bullberry TC carbine rifle. Those fired cases won't allow the Browning's action to close. I'll just have to keep the ammo segregated. looking forward to getting out with some fireform loads.

Hi,
Would the cases still be in spec if you trimmed them so they would fit in both actions?

Ken.
