Probably just different headspace between chambers, at least that is what I have encountered. You can probably make the longer brass work with a FL die but dedicated brass starting from new is, of course, the best way to go.

Trimming the cases won't make any difference. If the Hornet wasn't a rimmed cartridge, I could probably just run the reamer in a little deeper. However, I can't because I would be cutting the recess for the case head (rim) deeper, thus creating excess headspace. I think the only option, would be to grind the reamer, allowing it to go deeper, but not the case rim.

I have one of the Browning Low Walls in .22 Hornet. It has a gorgeous feather crotch black walnut stock. It shoots well under MOA at100 yards with Hornady factory 35 and 40 grain loads. I've gone from trying to reload hot 40 grain Nosler BTs to realizing that the Hornet is not meant to be a hotrod, just a mild-mannered pleasant-shooting rifle. I already have a .223 and a .22-250. Why not enjoy what I have?

I know, the K-Hornet gives a little more velocity but supposedly vastly improves case life. I'd do this with my Ruger #1B .22 Hornet, but the Low Wall shoots so well I hesitate to touch it in case I screw it up.

Well John, I'd be remiss if I didn't post a target shot with my Low Wall after running the K-Hornet reamer in for your consideration. Now my brass lasts about five times longer, I attained about 170 fps in velocity, and it sure didn't hurt the accuracy either.

And in regard to the very nice walnut used for these rifles, I offer up a shot of mine:

Great little rifles no matter how chambered, and pure joy for a walkabout companion.

Rick, The Nosler 45gr bullets are not available. Have you tried the Speer 45gr or 40gr? Midway has them on sale now.

Ken, no as I have about 2K of the old 45gr Solid Base saved just for my K-Hornet.

Hornady .224" and .223" were both very accurate in my CZ (standard) Hornet. Of course, I was using Lil'Gun and RP brass & pistol primers. No brass loss in 14 loadings of each of 500cases and not having to anneal, either. I had to anneal them after converting them to .17AH and 1 loading as that ctg. RP brass is Hornet, is the best brass, imho. It certainly has the greatest capacity, almost 1gr. MORE than WW brass.
