I use IMR 4227 with the 34 grain Dogtown HP in a 14" contender. FL sized for now but looking to get a neck sizer die. I do not crimp any of the cases that I load for single shot firearms. Crimping may or may not effect the ignition of the powder but if your loads are accurate for you without crimping I would load them that way. The 22 Hornet brass is thin and finicky so there is no since in over working it if your getting the results your happy with.

My 22 Hornets like W296, WW cases, 40 or 45 gr bullets and WSR. The Lil'Gun I had was a bit erratic for me, especially in very cold temperatures. Brass capacity varies widely with maker in the Hornet (as much as 1 gr difference in powder charge), so stick with one brand for best results.

I use Lil'Gun in the 218 Bee, 22 Hornet and 221 Fireball. Top velocity and great accuracy. The Hornet I use Small Pistol primers and do not crimp. I can get single digit SD and groups of .3 quite easily using it with Vmax or Blitzking bullets. 12.6 grains in WW brass will shoot under an inch on over 2 dozen various Hornets I have tried that load in.

My 22 Hornets thrive on 11.5 GR LilGun, 40 GR Varmageddons in Nosler brass using Remington 6 1/2 primers. I don't crimp but since I got an RCBS competition seater die I have not ruined a single case. Enjoy the Hornets, truly a fun round!
