Default .17 Hornet barrel length

Now that the new rifle has been purchased. I have started to think about barrel length. I mean really how much barrel length does it take to burn 10 to 13 grains of powder?

I have looked for pistol data but came up short so far.

Anyone experimented with 16 to 20 " barrels? I'm going to be running the 15.5 NTX factory load and a suppressor at all times.

Thanks
Brent

You will likely have better results looking for 17 ackley hornet spec's as they are close enough to be considered the same.

I would assume it would be less drastic of a loss than say a 17 rem. I know my little wildcat does quite well in short barrels.

Based off that excerpt It looks like you get most of the performance around 18" granted their was a big jump from 12" to 18"

I would think 18” would be perfect. I’m running 3700 fps with a 20 grain bullet in my 17AH 20” Barrel. I bet you could get close to 3900 fps with that 15.5 NTX and a 18” Barrel.....

Good Hunting Chad
