If you want to launch 80 gr. VLD bullets at subsonic speeds at the muzzle I would go with a 1/7 twist just to make sure they are stable. If you're at 1/2 the normal velocity you're only going to develop 1/2 the RPM.

Better yet find someone with a 1/7 twist 223 and have them download 80 grain bullets to 1100 fps at the muzzle and see if they are stabilize properly.
