That's interesting because they discontinued those 25gr HP's a couple years ago. Thanks for the heads up I nabbed two 500cnt boxes. With all this 17-222 talk going on lately it's rejuvenated my interest in building one.

Both of my 17 Rems love these bullets. At less than 1/2 cost of Berger's it's a no brainer.......

I think I'm going to hold off on my build until I finish burning up the barrel on my Remington LVSF and use it as my donor for the 17-222. I've got a ton of Lapua 222 brass so that's one item off the list.

My 17 Remington loves those bullets, great for PD to coyotes, and the price is right. The rifle is a L461 with a 24" 1:10 Shilen barrel.

That makes a bunch of .17Rem's that like that bullet. I still have a couple boxes of them, but none left in the stores here.

Just hit the go button on some also. Checked my supply, this should get me through another year.

I found the Hornady HP's to be much tougher than either Vmax weight.
Actually managed a tripple on gophers with this bullet. Impossible with
Vmaxes, either 20 or 25gr. I tried a number of times.

I bought a box of these several months ago when they had a run. This 25 gr Hornady HP is what I shoot exclusively in my 17 Rem. It has been a great bullet for me.

There's a yourtube video I watched some time ago where a guy was comparing the 17 Hornet to the 17 WSM and he had some of the original 17 Hornet ammo that was loaded with the 25gr HP bullets and he was shooting his steel target to see what kind of damage the two cartridges would do to it. I think it was at least 3/8 thick and I don't recall the yardage maybe 75 or so. Anyway, I was actually rather impressed those 25gr Hornady HP's from the 17 Hornet bored a hole right through his steel target like a hot knife through butter. I'm sure the steel wasn't anything special and not anything like AR500 but a 17 Hornady Hornet is certainly no powerhouse either.

I know you use your Swift a lot but how do these work on coyotes from your 17 Rem? I'm not a pelt saver so it's not really any concern to me but I'd imagine the damage to the fur with these little bullets is next to none at all.
