My competition seating die is an RCBS, one die with multiple inserts serve several calibers quite well.

Thanks Dennis, she's a keeper alrighty.

Almost all my dies now are Redding, which includes my K-Hornet Comp Seater. I've found using Redding Comp Seaters give me TIR's that run at zero to .0015", nothing ever more.

For the 1885 what would be a good coal, not restricted by mag length

Any load recommendations

As far as a COL, I would try seating a bullet .100" into the case and see if it chambers. If it's too long, reduce it by .010" until it does. Then load some test ammo at that length and seated .010" deeper. H110/WW296 and H4227 are good starting powders, especially since you have them on hand. Personally, I've had excellent results with Alliant 300-MP in my Hornets, but others like Lil'Gun.

My 22 Hornet also gave better accuracy and more velocity with Alliant 300-MP than Lil Gun.

It seems that due to the shape of the hornet's case, and the weak (thin) brass of the neck, that crimping with a Lee crimp die when using the slower powders, helps with accuracy. The nice thing about Lee Crimp dies, is that the bullet does not have to have a cannelure & any seating depth can be used and the bullet crimped.
Now, I had good luck with LG and crimping, but Bob D's W296 loads, did not need crimping once I got the velocity up.

Saw the pics on accurateshooter and that is a very pretty rifle; Browning seems to do a nice job with wood. Hope it shoots as good as it looks.

Any luck finding somebody to K it yet?

Made up some loads

40g v max coal 1.9

42g Calhoon Db HP coal 1.8
same length to the ogive

4227 Case was full at 11.3g, I was going to try more but no room

H110 10.6g,10.8g,10.9 and 11

Heading to the range later today

I think Ill play with this before I make any changes.
