Default Off Topic But Need Help Identifying .351

Going through a box of brass and ran into this. It is labeled .351 trimmed and ready to load. It is headstamped R P 357 Max. It is trimmed from 1.372 to 1.374. It has been shortened and looks like it has been put in a lathe and turned to semi-rimless cartridge. It is pictured with a standard 357 max R P Case. It appears to be made from new brass. If it was turned on a lathe it had to be very labor intensive. I am guessing I have 140-160. What is the name of the cartridge? Demand? Value?

All input appreciated

Thanks
Doug

That would be my thought or guess also, someone was shooting the old 351 auto load round and made their own brass, as it is pretty hard to find original brass.

I sold my Winchester Model 1907 351SL because ammo was so expensive and I hadn't started loading my own yet. My gunsmith told me that brass could be made that would work from 357Max brass with the base turned on a lathe. It seems that that is what tred1956 has. The 1907 has a very long history, manufactured until 1957 I believe.

One common use of the Winchester 1907 was use by tower and wall guards at prisons. So much so, there was a FMJ factory load available for the 351 WSL.
