17 hornet and reloader 7
New gun and digging through my powder selection. Anyone have a load for 25 grain hp and reloader 7? Is it a decent powder for it? Thanks!

The first attempt didn’t stick, so I’ll try it again…
Deceased member and good ole friend Rem, use to like R-7. And IIRC it was in the 17 AH. I don’t remember using it myself in a 17 hornet so I’m not much help. But I do know that accurate arms list loads for the 17 hornet using 2200 powder and they also list 2200 the same burn rate as R-7. I have had some success with old DATA 2200 in the 17 Jet and 25 gr vmax bullets .... but I am not even sure AA 2200 is the same (burn rate) as the older data 2200?

Not for 17 Hornet, but AA2200 and RL-7 are great in the 221FB. I have tried it AA2200 in a 22 Hornet and it had a much duller, quieter report, and wound up around 2100fps and good accuracy with a POI about 1" to 1.5" lower than normal POI. I thought it could be a decent reloadable 22 WMR clone.

I've tried it in my K-Hornet with a 24" 1/14 barrel and 50 gr. bullets
50 R-P PLHP 13.5 AA2200 Fed 100 R-P 2305 50 R-P PLHP 13.0 RL-7 Fed 100 R-P 2521 fps 50 Hornady SPSX 12.5 WC680 Fed 100 WW 2514 fps I think you'll find its burn-rate too slow in a 22 Hornet for standard velocities, but if velocity isn't a priority it would be worth a try. |

Several guys and gals use H4198, so RL7 should work. Where are you in Nebraska?
