Default Interesting bullet BC comparison

I just ordered up some 32gr BT lead free Noslers. Not really because they are lead free, but because they have quite a bit better BC than the lead ballistic tip boat tail bullets the same weight. Must be the length that makes for a good BC, the lead free anr flat base (even though the spec says BT) but they have a much better BC than the lead bullets.

If they can't describe the bullet shape correctly, can they get the BC right?
Not suggesting it's wrong.

Am I missing something here ?. the tech link on both pages advises that the optimum velocity for both bullets is 1600fps. Driving those from a small case such as 20VT then you will be way over 200 yards before velocity drops that low.

Launch one from a 204 or 20BR similar then 4000 fps at the muzzel is on the cards, 1600 fps will be somewhere out toward 450 yards I guess. Plenty of splatter especially below 100 yards on a small target.

So what exactly do they mean by optimum velocity ?, possibly optimum speed for a controlled expansion maybe ?.

The ad reads "violent expansion" so I read that as below 1600, they'll just pencil hole.

If you read further they say maximum velocity is "unlimited" whatever that means. Either way I will try some out of my 20 Swift 12 twist. Larry

Default Checking the BC against the Sierra

32 gr Blitz, they are only .008 more......a "why bother" amount in my book. But if your bbl likes'em better, why not?

Between these two it is .022, not much, but the highest BC is a flat base and the lowest one is a boat tail. Looks like the length of the bullet has more to do with the BC than the shape. Larry

Seems like BC, even if defined as a G1 BC, means something different to every mfg. Sort of like an engine or chassis dyno, HP is supposed to have a specific definition but every brand reads different.

This is a picture of the bullets side by side, when it comes to BC it seems the physical length of the bullet is more important than it's shape. Larry
