SOS!!!Older savage model 12 bolt help

The only reason I mention laying the bolt body on the floor rather than in a padded vice is the fact that I don't think you'll ever be able to tighten the vice enough without damaging the body to hold it in place while you get enough leverage to brake the screw loose. On the floor it only take a little leverage to brake loose, if it's gunna brake.

I Got It!!! Good lord!!! As I said I soaked it with kroil last week, when to the hardware store this a.m. and picked up a 3/8" socket with a 1/4 alen driver in it , put the bolt in my gunsmith vise, put the socket in a 1/2" drive air powered impact wrench, turned my compressor up to 150 psi...cachunka,chunka,chunka,chunka, vewwww!! And a hip,hip hooray ..that sucker was on there...what's the point in that..oh and I was worried about breaking the head off that bolt..hahaha..yah that was never going to happen..

Any torque specs..other then gorilla tight

Forget the "Gorilla Tight" thing. You saw what happened from the start.
Snug with a little "bump" is good. NEVER had one of mine OR a barrel for that matter that was snug with a little "bump" come loose. But I've only replaced maybe a dozen or so barrels and swapped about the same amount of bolt heads and bolt handles so not saying anything about being an expert. Just been there, done that a few times. A good lube in the screw threads will work wonders.
