Default overall length after seating lead?

I have seated some lead into the jackets and made measurements. They differ from .681-.692! Have any of the bullet makers noticed a difference in accuracy with that much of a length difference?

Default Overall length

Did you weigh your cores? Do you cut your cores or squirt them?

What brand of jackets? Did the seating pressure feel the same?

Default Cores

Are your cores cast or from wire? If wire, where did the wire come from. Could be voids in the wire.

The cores were squirt from cut lead wire. The cores were made in 2 different batches though now that I have read through my notes. I would assume that even though they weighed the same on my scale perhaps this is the reason.

I guess I'll jump in on this .011 is ALOT for length variation after core seating, that being said what is the jacket length variation before you start? They should vary by no more than .005 and remain the same after core seat. What is the weight difference in jackets are they mixed lot? what type of press are you using if rcbs then check linkage for play especially the top straps and pins. Check this and get back then we'll discuss core seating procedure....George

Good to see you step up , George! The .224 dies are making smokin' good bullets - a couple of days ago, Tim shot back-to-back 1.5" at 600 yd.; both had under 1.0" of vertical! That was via a 1:10" Kreiger, which, with the 72 Gr. BT (1.00" J4) was a surprise. Should receive the 7mm wire Tue., or Wed. and will let ya know how that goes - as usual, Thank You for the ideas! RG
