19-223 James Calhoon
Anyone own one of these? I'm going to be hunting coyotes near Havre Mt. in December and plan on stopping by Jims place and checking out his 19 Cals. Any info greatly appreciated.

I have one in a Cooper 21. It is a real tack driver.... If you aren't real big into reloading your own rounds I would have to recommend a .204 ruger over it. They are equivalent in my opinion. I have a ton of .198" bullets since I have a 19 Badger as well. Calhoon has a reputation for building great shooting rifles. I personally prefer a little larger round if it is for coyotes (.22-250)

Jaybird. Great to here his guns are shooters. My call gun for Montana is a 243 with 70gr blitz kings. It crono's at 3600 and bucks the wind well. The 19 cal. Would be used for calling in PA. Most shots are under 300 yards. Thanks

Now that sounds like my kind of round for coyotes.... If you were looking for something a little lighter in size from Calhoon, it's hard to go wrong with his 19 Badger. Or just go with the 20 Vartarg. They are both hell on wheels and I wouldn't hesitate to drop a dog inside 300 yrds with either one..... Heck of alot less recoil then a .243 or .22-250 as well.

Say Hi to James for me....
I have a Cooper in 19-223 and a 19Hornet James built on a Ruger, both are great shooters.I have shot a lot of pds past 500 yards with the Cooper.Get some of the Sierra made 32 grain Blitzkings while you are up there.
