Remington 541 to centerfire help and suggestions
I have a 541x action that has been worked over by Brian voelker that I am trying to decide whether to sale it or convert it to centerfire. The action is threaded already, the 2nd action screw hole added, has a 700 style recoil lug, scope bases and a trigger that breaks at 16 ounces.
My question is who can convert these to centerfire? And am I better off going with this one or just picking up another cz? My original plan was to just make it into a very accurate rimfire but I have those already. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. |

Given the dollars that 541's are selling for these days I would sell it and build/buy something in a centerfire caliber.

Supposedly there is 5mm ammo being made now for a short production run. No way would I convert to center fire with market value.

This isn't a complete rifle. Just a complete action that was worked over by Brian voelker. So there isn't any collector value to it

James Calhoon I believe did some of those conversions-he had a "How-to" on his site at one time

I've had and done a couple of CF conversions. I was seriously thinking of buying yours when you offered it, but a local guy said he has one he's gonna sell me for a pitance, and I'm too cheap for my own good sometimes.
Conversion is fairly simple, a new bolt head with extractor, firing pin, and simple ejector. By keeping the original bolt head and parts, you could revert back to RF. There are a number of examples on the web for inspiration... |

I need to do some research
I had a conversion done in 2006 by Eagle Peak? I need to do some research. The firing pin was converted to centerfire and dies were provided along with 5mm Craig brass. Anyone familiar with this?
