I loved my 19 calhoon.... Hope u enjoy yours! Mine was on a Contender frame tho and that got old quick. I may convert a CZ over to the 19 Calhoon tho. 19 Badger gets the nod usually when I go out now...

want to say CFE BLK is top contender in said cartridge....but I don't own one. I hope to have my wildcat up soon which is similar in capacity.

I got away from Lil gun, just to sensitive on the pressure sign/spikes.
Went to AA1680 and CFE BLK. Both are very fine, do give better accuracy than I did get with Lil Gun. Think I might favor 1680 a little more. Seems to be best in my rifle. Bill K

12.2gr 1680 topped of with a 20gr bullet seems to be a load that works well in just about everyones 17 Hornet.

Something to be aware of with the 17 Hornady Hornet is their brass has a pretty good amount of variance from Lot to Lot, particularly with the neck thickness.

As of current, even the Federal AE 17 Hornet ammo is the same stuff as Hornady's. Per Federal, they have plans to make their own brass and their own 17 Hornet ammo in the future, but they haven't done so yet and the Fed AE ammo is still Hornady but with a different head stamp and label on the box.

I shoot Lil"Gun in the 17 HH. Accuracy is in the .2s out of my CZ. I know I am a minority but I have gone through MANY pounds of it in the 221 FB, 22 H, 218 Bee and 17 HH. I get great accuracy along with top velocity out of it. I have never had any kind of pressure problems with it and it throws great from a Dillon or Lyman 55. Don't have a picture of a 17 HH group but here is 200 yards using 12.6 Lil'Gun, Fed SP primer in WW cases with a 40 grain Sierra Blitzking at 3150 fps in the 22 Hornet.

I too have run into the pressure spike issue with lil gun. I have also heard that there can be a lot of lot to lot variation that will require new work ups. don't get me wrong it's the king of speed in many instances for some of these smaller cartridges, but it can get harry from time to time. I had .1gr bump up 100+ ft/sec and some serious web expansion....100 ft/sec may no seem like much but that was from a 6" barrel

I also experienced a very narrow window of accuracy. the lower pressure loads were all of the place with es/sd then as pressure built it was tightening up both groups and es/sd then boom! spikezilla I also shot it from an 18.5" barrel and experienced the same except I stopped before hitting the ceiling.

I have been using Lil'Gun in the .17AH for 20 and 25gr. bullets for many years. It is my go-to powder for this rifle ctg. for fireforming and shooting in formed brass. I use the same load for both.
In the Pac-Nor bl. accuracy is identical when forming as it is in formed cases. The velocity when forming works out to 34fps lower vel.
Like Dean2, I have never had any pressure spikes, however, loads must be carefully worked up. The 2 .17AH's I worked with, had quite different maximum loads. I started each
rifle at 9.2gr. and worked up from there. One maxed out at 10.8gr. and 3,950fps with 20gr. Vmax's and the other maxed at 10.3gr. LG at 3,925fps.
LGun was also the best powder for both accuracy and speed in my .22 CZ Hornets(2) and my Ruger #1B .218Bee.
